Obituary for Sr. Marie Flowers, SCN

Marie FlowersMarie Flowers SCN, 50, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth since 2014.

She served as a social worker, primarily working as an advocate for children. She served as a Case Coordinator for NECCO Foster Care in Louisville, and as an advocate for children at CASA of the River Region from 2014-2017. She also spent time as a volunteer for Sisters Place, serving homeless families in Southwestern Pennsylvania. She served in health care ministry as a Patient Care Coordinator for MD2U in Louisville from 2011-2012. In 1994 she received a Master’s Degree from St. Louis University. Most recently, she served her SCN Community as the Western Province Vocation Director.

She is survived by her father, Michael Flowers, and her mother, Ellen Finan Flowers, of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Patty (Abdul) Adlabi of Manchester, Missouri; one brother Mike (Lynn) Flowers of Fort Lauderdale, FL; several nieces and nephews, her religious community, and by the many persons whose lives she touched.

The Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM Saturday, October 21, 2017, at St. Vincent Church at Nazareth, KY. Burial is in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation is 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017, at Epiphany Church in Louisville. Sharing of memories and prayer will be at 7:00 PM. Her remains will be received at Nazareth at 9:00 AM Saturday, October 21, 2017 followed by sharing at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
