Obituary for Omer Lamothe

Omer and Ina LamotheOmer G. Lamothe, 92, born in Windsor Ontario, passed away on February 5th, 2018.

Omer studied Mechanical Engineering at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, graduated in 1948, moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan and married Ina Bortolotti in Decatur, Michigan the same year. In 1990, Omer retired from Humana as Director of Engineering. He was a member of ASHRAE and an active parishioner of The Church of Epiphany.

His greatest joy was always doing things for his children and grandchildren - helping build decks and updating houses, working at Habitat for Humanity and crusading for social justice. He made a difference in the world with his love, generosity, and dedication to others. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by five children, Tony Lamothe (Sheri), Gerry Lamothe, Suzie Wilson (James), Rick Lamothe (Susan), Paul Lamothe and sister-in-law Eleanor Glass. He is also survived by his grandchildren Angela Didyk (Adam), Nick Binns, Matt Hawthorn, Jennifer Edlin (Kevin), Sarah Lamothe, Joseph Lamothe, Zach Lamothe, Caroline Lamothe and six great-grandchildren, Clayton, Wesley, Georgia, Anna, Ryder and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina, parents, George and Marguerite Lamothe and his grandson Matthew Binns.

The family wishes to give special thanks to our dedicated and loving caregivers for both our parents: Jackie Cain, Sherry Edlin, Judy Keller, and many other family and friends who so willingly came to help.
