6th Grade Formation Class Social Justice Project

This year your 6th graders decided to take on the F.O.C.A. bill, that President Obama said he would sign if it is passed. F.O.C.A. is the “Freedom of Choice Act” bill that would allow government, our government, to fund and regulate the facilities and staff that perform abortions.

The 6th grade class presented their side of the issue on April 19. They have been researching since December. We had a good turn-out of parishioners to hear their persentations.

Reflections on the "Beloved Community": Praying Together in the Gap…

Last Wednesday evening (April 22) a diverse group of some 50 Epiphanites gathered for prayer in the Lighthouse. The community events of the previous week had evoked many emotions -- including bewilderment, anger, sadness and fear. We had a chance to bring all our feelings to God, particularly through toning and drumming, and to reflect on thoughts from the Weavings article “The Broken-Open Heart, Living with Faith and Hope in the Tragic Gap.” Sitting around the cross in the light of an Easter Candle, we remembered God’s promise to be with us in all situations, felt the support of reconnecting with community, and the beginnings of hope and possibility that exist in each moment, through the grace of God. Afterwards many stayed to share in small groups.

Neophyte Witness: Carmen

    Reflections on Sunday's Mass: April 26, 2009

This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Easter. Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s promises, offers true forgiveness and reconciliation, that we might be formed into the beloved community through praying the scriptures and sharing Eucharist.
