Each year on the First Sunday of Lent, catechumens and candidates around the archdiocese gather for the Rite of Election or the Call to Continuing Conversion. In the name of the Church, the rite is an act of recognition by Archbishop Shelton Fabre of those baptized in another Christian tradition who now seek to come into full communion with the Catholic Church. It also marks the beginning of the final preparation for the candidates seeking to complete their initiation at the Easter Vigil.
