By design, the Recent Synod (2021-2024) has a built-in implementation phase. Participants in the Assembly of the Synod of Bishops agreed that they have a responsibility to promote the use of a synodal methodology throughout all levels of Church life, including parishes. The Final Document, or synthesis report of the synod, repeatedly speaks of the need to incorporate a missionary synodal perspective.
Simply put, this is a way of understanding the role of Christians in the world and how we can work together to achieve the Church’s mission. It involves listening to each other, working together, and making decisions as a community. conversation in the Spirit has proven especially fruitful. The work of instilling a missionary synodal perspective has already begun. Study Groups made up of pastors and experts from all continents continue their in-depth study of 10 key themes of great importance to the life of the Church that emerged from the consultation that took place after the First Session in 2023.
