Pope Francis initiated a process of synodality, a way of journeying together, in October 2021 as a means of discerning the way forward for the Church in our contemporary world. A yearlong period of listening sessions among Catholics from various backgrounds and levels of participation in Church life resulted in a written summary of their responses.
Subsequently, representatives from the United States and Canada gathered virtually to produce a continental summary: TheNorth American Final Document for the Continental Stage of the 2021-2024 Synod. This document is a testament to the work of the Spirit and explores areas in need of attention as Catholics continue cultivating a more synodal Church in Canada and the United States.
