I was born on the south side of Chicago, IL., to parents who were both immigrants from Ireland. Being first-generation Irish-American, my heritage remains a strong part of my identity. When I was very young, our family moved to San Francisco, CA in part to avoid the harsh weather conditions in both winter and summer of the mid-west. Both parents are deceased now, but most of my immediate family still live in the Bay Area so that is where I consider home base.
I have been involved in church ministry (or going to school to prepare for ministry) my entire adult life. That explains somewhat why I have moved around quite a bit. I’ve journeyed from the west coast to the east coast, from Central America to the Deep South, from the mid-west to the Great Plains, and, most recently, from the Buckeye State to the Bluegrass State. I enjoy running, reading, learning new things, and witnessing the marvel of a full moon against a black sky.
I could not be more delighted to be given the opportunity to serve as Director of Faith Formation at Epiphany Church. Epiphany has a reputation for its strong commitment to the social mission of the Church and its concern for leaning into the “growing edges” of our faith. I aspire to that vision of ministry as well. I look forward to getting to know the members of the community and staff more personally and discovering what the Spirit has in store for us as we move forward together.
