Weekend of June 10/11 (Feast of Corpus Christi)
Archbishop Shelton Fabre has announced that the Archdiocese will reinstate permission to distribute the Precious Blood to the faithful from the Chalice. Since 1978, the Bishops of the U.S. have encouraged the distribution of the Precious Blood regularly, noting that this “is the fullest sign and most perfect fulfillment of what the Lord did and directed.”
As always, reception from the Chalice is optional and those who are ill, infirm, or have compromised immune systems should be reassured that our Church also teaches that Jesus Christ is truly and wholly present under both species, bread and wine, Body and Blood.
